Chaparral Operators and the Next Generation
Chaparral Construction LLC is a family owned and operated construction and excavation company based out of La Veta, Colorado. The family company was founded in 1963 by Dick Jameson. In 1978 Dick created Chaparral Construction as a partnership with his son, Ronald, who took over the day to day operations of the business. Ron's vision for the company has formed the foundation of quality work and customer satisfaction that has led to the success of the company.
Ron's two sons, Justin and Brian, very early took an interest in the company and the high level of workmanship that was performed by their father and his crew. They started very young to operate the equipment and learned how to work diligently in many of the projects. In 2006, Chaparral Construction became an LLC when Ronald’s wife, Cindy, sons, Justin and Brian became part owners.
The company has expanded over the years to include stream and river restoration and enhancement erosion control and mitigation, fire suppression and rehabilitation, forest road maintenance, recreation facilities construction, and mastication (tree-grinding) services. Both Justin and Brian are working in their father's spirit as heavy equipment operators and project managers.
The Jameson Family
Ron Jameson
Ron Jameson was born and raised in Cuchara, Colorado. He’s done excavation work of one kind or another since he was a small boy. His first piece of equipment was a John Deere tractor on the family ranch. He and his wife Cindy, have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
Ron loves raising cattle, volunteering for the Stonewall FPD and La Veta FPD, where he now serves as chief, and being involved in the local FFA and 4-H programs. He also collects antique tractors.
Ron, as well as his years of experience, has had extensive training in river morphology at Trinidad State Junior College and Wildland Hydrology, Inc. His 40 plus years of fire service gives him a great understanding of mitigation for pre and post fire work.

Brian owns his own cattle, restores older pickups, and loves to ride snow mobiles. He is a volunteer for the Stonewall FPD and La Veta FPD and is trained in structure and wildland fire.
Brian received an Associates in diesel mechanics and business through Wyotech so he over sees the repairs. He’s completed the Fluvial Geomorphology, River Morphology, and Assessment and Monitoring classes through Wildland Hydrology, Inc. as well as stormwater management and erosion control classes.
